Harlem is as varied as the island of Manhattan itself. Neighborhoods truly run block-to-block on all different levels; each one offering it’s own ‘something special.’ No neighborhood is necessarily better than the other, and all have fantastic access to transportation.
Commercials zones tend to gravitate near express trains, most people having a preference for areas beneath 125th street. I personally live at 145th and love it here. It’s equally beneficial when it comes to transportation, and traffic on the streets is lower in volume. It’s a personal choice on which what is your favorite, and I hope that these brief summaries with photo ‘walking tours’ can help you learn more about this dynamic place.
